BENEFITS OF COCONUT WATER

Coconut water is the girl you don’t notice but is always there. From hundreds of street vendors vying for your attention on the streets to poshly labelled coconut juice canisters modelling in fridges in department stores, you can never escape its low-calorie clutches. But is it worth all the hype? Well, it’s sweet but addictive taste sure is!

A sole cup of coconut water has more potassium than a medium sized banana. Research proves that potassium-enriched diets can aid in reducing blood pressure levels and stroke. It soothes morning sickness and heartburn which is why it’s popular among pregnant women. Coconut water is directly linked to good digestion and prevents constipation due to its high levels of magnesium. Its close to no added sugar quantities advertises itself as a great substitute for compulsive, sugary drinks and soda’s. Replacing sweetened beverages with coconut water is a great choice for diabetic patients looking for something sweet while ingesting its added benefits.

Drinking coconut water boosts your body’s hydration and prevents unhealthy skin by replacing it with clear and glowing skin. Specific types of coconut water with vitamin C concentrations promote collagen synthesis which maintains your skin’s youthful glow. Adequate hydration is required for boosting your body’s metabolism.

Coconut water is home to multiple types of amino acids (some in greater quantities compared to cow’s milk!) and cytokinins-a substance with anti-aging properties. It boosts metabolism. The higher the metabolic rate, the more fat you burn. And the best part is that even though coconut water has a very low concentration of carbohydrates, it still gives you a feeling of being full. Drinking coconut water at least 3-4 times a day may help in losing those extra kilos

But, if  you are trying to lose weight, it might be in your best interests to opt for water instead. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics suggests water as a primary source since coconut water and plain water rehydrates you just the same. does not rehydrate you any better. Coconut water also contains calories and sugars, approximately 45-60 calories in an 8 ounce serving,  that can be avoided unless you have it as a casual beverage.
